How does professional whitening work?
Professional whitening uses a stronger, dentist-supervised gel than over-the-counter products to break down stains inside the enamel. In-office Zoom whitening is done in one appointment; at-home options use custom trays over a few weeks.
Whitening works on natural teeth. Crowns, veneers and fillings don't change color, so if you have them on front teeth we plan around them.
Results depend on the type of staining. Some people see a big change, others a more modest one — we'll set realistic expectations at your exam.

Whitening is a good fit if you have…
Some discoloration doesn't respond to whitening. In that case, bonding or veneers may be the better option — we'll tell you.
- Stains from coffee, tea, red wine or tobacco
- Teeth that have yellowed with age
- An upcoming wedding, interview or event

What whitening costs.
Whitening is a cosmetic treatment, so insurance usually doesn't cover it. We'll explain your options and their cost before you choose.
- 01We check your insurance benefits and explain your out-of-pocket cost before treatment begins.
- 02We work with most major PPO plans and file the claims for you.
- 03Monthly payment options are available through Cherry, Proceed, HFD and CareCredit, subject to approval.
Care from people who explain, not rush.
What patients ask us.
How long does whitening last?
It varies with your habits. Coffee, tea, red wine and smoking fade results faster; touch-ups help keep teeth bright.
Does whitening cause sensitivity?
Some people feel temporary sensitivity. We check your teeth first and can adjust the approach to keep you comfortable.
Will whitening work on crowns or veneers?
No — whitening only lightens natural teeth. If you have crowns or veneers on front teeth, we plan around them.
In-office or at-home — which is better?
In-office Zoom is faster; at-home trays are flexible and gradual. Many patients combine both. We'll help you choose.
Is whitening safe for my enamel?
Dentist-supervised whitening is considered safe when teeth and gums are healthy, which is why we check them first.
Does insurance cover whitening?
Usually not, because it's cosmetic. Your exam and cleaning may be covered by your PPO plan.
